Born in Brittany, Emilion embarked upon the Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle pilgrimage. He didn’t make it as far as Spain, preferring to retreat to a cave in Dordogne to pray and assist those in need in the local region. His actions were so significant that an important monastic city was born which bore his name.

We were won over by this cartoon which takes us on an educational journey through the little-known history of our local heritage. The graphics and colours evoke an authentic mediaeval feel. We found this a great way to get to know the journey taken by the founder of Saint Emilion and the history of our town. The book is available for purchase at the domaine, during visits or by postal order (postage fees apply)
